About us

Scalby Fair, one of the few remaining Village Fairs in the North of England, is a week long festival of entertainment and fun culminating in a large village street fair with over 50 stalls, music, dancing, and children specific attractions.

Scalby Fair is non-profit making, and is run entirely by volunteers. The aims of the Fair are to foster a community spirit, by encouraging participation in many varied activities and events, and to support local business. The Fair runs all the events during Fair week, and some other events during the year.

Since its beginning Scalby Fair has donated a total of over £30,000 to various local community organizations. These have included:-

    • > Scalby school, Scalby school band, Newby school, and Barrowcliffe school
    • > Scalby Cricket Club, Scalby Football Club, Scalby Junior Football Club, and Scarborough Athletics Club
    • > The Dance Warehouse, Yorkshire Coast Morris Dancers, and the Kevin O’Conner school of Irish Dancing
    • > The Scouts, Guides and Air Cadets
    • > St Laurences church and the Methodist church
    • > Scalby Village Trust
    • > North York Moors Rescue
    • > The Prince of Wales Trust
    • > St Catherines Hospice
    • > Scarborough Hospital Stroke Unit and the Parkinson’s Disease society

This is the way that money raised during the Fair is returned back to the community.
