Scalby Fair 2007 Presentation Night
In 2007 Scalby Fair raised almost £2000 for local good causes and charities.
The fundraising was accomplished by holding a variety of events including The Tony Peers Variety Show, Wine Tasting evening, Grand Prize Draw, and A Big Band Night held in The Scalby Village Hall.
To celebrate this achievement a Presentation Ceremony was held at The Nags Head Public House in Scalby Village on Wednesday 12th December.
The event was well attended and local celebrity Tony Peers entertained the crowd and presented cheques to a number of local organisations.
The list of organisations receiving donations was headed by;
The Scarborough Hospital Stroke Club - £800.00
The Scarborough Parkinson's Disease Society - £200.00
Scalby Toilet Trust - £500.00
Over a dozen other groups also received donations.
Chairman of The Scalby Fair Committee, Jim Sloan, commented 'The generosity of all who attended the Scalby Fair Events was overwhelming and this presentation is our way of letting everyone know what happens to the money raised.'
A special thank you was given to Ann Golder for her tireless efforts in organising the Prize Draw and Big Band Nights which were the biggest fundraising events of this year's Fair.
Scalby Fair, one of the longest established Village Fairs in the North of England, is a week long festival of entertainment and fun culminating in a large village street fair with over 50 stalls offering a variety of products ranging from local delicacies, children's funfair, and prize draw, together with entertainment and music.
